About Us
First Steps Preschool, LLC is a Certified
Family Preschool/Child
Care Home with the Child Care Division and is both licensed and insured
in Springfield, Oregon.
Wednesday Eversole
Holds a Master of
Education Degree from the University
of Oregon, is a State Licensed Oregon
Teacher with endorsements in Special Education and English for Speakers
of
Other Languages. She is currently at Step 11 with the Oregon Registry.
Lash Eversole
Holds a Bachelor of
Education Degree in Family and Human Services from the University
of Oregon.
We both are involved with ongoing training in early childhood development and education, have Food Handlers' Certificates, trained in CPR and First Aid, and have cleared Federal and State background checks. Our location also undergoes annual safety, sanitation, and health inspections.
Our Mission
First Steps Preschool will successfully prepare children
cognitively, emotionally, physically, and socially for kindergarten through a
variety of academic, physical, and social activities through a strength-based
curriculum and supplemental educational materials utilizing the Multiple Intelligences.

Daily Activities
First Steps Preschool has a variety of academic,
physical, and social activities that are taught throughout the day.
AM preschool academia subjects will include,
but are not limited to:
- letter and number recognition
- phonics
- phonemic awareness
- math
- reading
- social studies
- science
- social skills
- problem solving skills
- free-play
- social skills
- dramatic play
- read-aloud
- physical education
Students will
have center activities where they will be partnered or grouped with other
students to explore using their senses as well as social interaction discussing
various topics and themes. In the PM preschoolers will have many fun-filled activities as well as
extra-curricular activities. Some of
these activities include:
- computer technology
- music
- art
- cooking
- basic Spanish
vocabulary, sign language, etc…
- physical activities
Activities for School Age Children
Students
who join us after school will be assisted with homework and tutored as needed in any school subject. Age appropriate educational activities will be available
to them as well as extra-curricular activities that suit their individual interests.
Adaptations and Modifications
We believe that every student is different in many
different aspects. For this reason, we
will adapt and modify lessons and activities to meet the various needs of our
students. We will provide them with
diverse styles of learning such as hands-on exploration, visual aids, listening
activities, and music just to name a few. Your child/children will be exposed
to thematic teaching, the multiple intelligences, and more.
We believe that your little one(s) will enjoy
learning and will have an appreciation for school because your child will feel
confident about their abilities and most importantly they will
be having FUN!
